WPVI is reporting from South Philadelphia on the death of an eleven year old boy at the hands of a hit-and-run driver.
The victim has been identified by local citizenry as Julian Angelucci, a 4th grade student at D.N. Fell Elementary School.
After a wide-area manhunt, the driver has been apprehended but not yet named by police. She turned herself in after witnessing reports of the accident on television. The car, with New Jersey plates, was towed away by police to be looked at for evidence.
The time of the accident was approximately 3:00 PM on Friday afternoon. Witnesses say that while crossing the street at 10th and Shunk on his bike, the young boy was hit by a car and thrown several feet. The offending vehicle sped off and left the scene.
The accident investigation is presumed to be ongoing.
